When ‘Good Intentions’ Turn Into an Accusation Against Revelation

What this image exposes is not harshness. It is honesty.
Islam is not a religion left unfinished, waiting for people to “improve” it. Allah Himself closed that door.
“Today I have perfected for you your religion, completed My favor upon you, and chosen Islam as your religion.”
(Quran 5:3)
Once something is perfected, adding to it is not creativity. It is an accusation. An accusation that Allah’s religion was incomplete and that the Messenger ﷺ failed to convey it fully.
That is why the Prophet ﷺ spoke so strongly about innovation:
“Whoever introduces into this matter of ours that which is not from it, it is rejected.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 2697, Sahih Muslim 1718)
And he warned repeatedly, publicly, in his sermons:
“The worst of matters are newly invented affairs, and every innovation is misguidance.”
(Sahih Muslim 867)
Bid‘ah is not about intention. Good intentions never made false worship acceptable. The mushrikīn also claimed good intentions when they invented acts of devotion.
“We only worship them so that they may bring us closer to Allah.”
(Quran 39:3)
Allah rejected that excuse outright.
The image says it plainly: innovation is like saying to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, “You did not know, so let me add something.” That is exactly why it is dangerous. It shifts authority from revelation to personal preference.
The Salaf understood this clearly. They did not ask, “Is it emotional?” or “Does it feel spiritual?” They asked one question only:
Did the Prophet ﷺ do it?
Did his Companions do it?
If the answer was no, they walked away, even if the act looked beautiful.
Because guidance is not measured by novelty. It is measured by conformity to the Sunnah.
Holding firmly to what was revealed is not rigidity. It is humility before Allah.
Adding to the religion is not love. It is overstepping.
The safest path is not to invent.
The safest path is to follow.
And whoever wants Allah’s acceptance should remember:
“So let those beware who oppose his command, lest a trial befall them or a painful punishment.”
(Quran 24:63)
No additions.
No upgrades.
No edits to revelation.
Just submission.
